Paradise lost (and hopefully regained): all about plastic (bags mostly)

This is a 33-min documentary on  minimizing waste and recycling materials in Bali, which is not the pristine, bucolic Garden of Eden that the travel brochures would want us to believe.
The facts that are brought up, and the remedies implemented apply to every other jurisdiction. We can all do our little bit to preserve and extend the livability of our planet.
A paradigm shift in thinking has to happen: saving our resources (air, water, etc) should have the same if not more,  priority as saving for our retirement and for our children's welfare.
"... a plastic bag you use for 15 minutes... and then it's around for your grandkids and their grandkids."
"... a typical 600mL plastic bottle needs a quart of it in oil to produce that bottle... is mind-boggling... when you look at that bottle, you're not buying water, you're buying crude oil."
"... we have to be adults with the environment we live in" (from the video)

A short documentary film dumpster diving into Bali's garbage crisis and its grassroots solutions. For more info, visit: http://www.theparadigmshiftproject.org/greening_the_island_of_the_gods.html
